Vocational Rehabilitation

What is VR.

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is a federal-state program that helps people who have physical or mental disabilities get or keep a job. Visit rehabworks.org to find a local office. Select the directory tab and click on the map.

IWE is partnered with The Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and is structured as a one-stop-shop offering adult employment services, youth programs, employability trainings, mentoring self-advocacy, and tutoring. Our services enhance a customer’s ability to successfully achieve independence by establishing a lifelong career.

Pre-employment training. Job-Coaching. Placement For Adult Customers and Mentoring and Life Skills.

IWE services allow customers to work with Employment Specialists to find the right career path for them. Our team explores available job opportunities in each customer’s travel area. It is not just a job search, it is about highlighting a customer’s strengths and abilities to secure employment that is fulfilling and rewarding

Mentoring and life skills.

Youth Peer Mentoring is time-limited, self-advocacy training service where a Mentor/peer who is close in age (within approximately 6 years) teaches the youth through a one-on-one mentoring relationship how to self-advocate for community, social and professional services and supports. At the beginning of this service, the Mentor provides a lot of support, showing the youth how to connect with and then engage in services and networks that will benefit them now and in the future. The Mentor gradually passes more of the responsibility to the youth until he or she feels confident enough to perform independently. By the end of this service, the youth increase in their self-determination and self-advocacy skills and are more able to independently seek out and participate in community-based, social and professional groups
